517: The "Saddleman"
In 1969, the 517 was introduced as the "Saddleman" and was described as being “full from the knee for the boot" - the first ever boot cut jean. The 517 was originally launched as part of the Orange Tab line - a collection of more casual and fashion-forward options.
With the boot cut leg and a slimmer fit through the hips and thighs, the 517 was a staple of 70s American fashion and later become a favorite of style icon Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.
